The International Water Lily Collection in San Angelo, Texas became completely transformed through the lens of my infrared camera. The familiar greens of the lily pads shifted into unexpected colors, creating a landscape that felt both natural and dreamlike.

In this painting, I used acrylic paint layered with a translucent pink pigment glaze to recreate the luminous quality of infrared photography. Heavy texture and saturated color emphasize the organic shapes while allowing the surface to catch and reflect light.

By overlapping the lily pads and varying their scale, I wanted to create the gentle movement of water without actually painting the water itself. The composition invites the viewer’s eye to drift across the surface, discovering new shapes, colors, and relationships with each glance.
